Congratulations on your new position as an Odyssey language assistant!

The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), is pleased to welcome you to the Odyssey family. You and 300 other first-time Odyssey language assistants are about to embark on an exciting adventure. Members of the 2022 Pan-Canadian Training Session planning committee have organized a number of learning sessions to get you off to a good start.

During this virtual event, you will be given tips, techniques, and ideas for your work with students from our expert workshop leaders. You will also connect with other language assistants and be introduced to your support network. Should you have any questions or comments during your Pan-Canadian Training Session experience, please do not hesitate to contact your host provincial or territorial coordinator. Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you must register with the email address associated with your Odyssey application profile. You may register today by clicking on “Enter.”

Before the event, you will receive a message (at the email address that you use to access your Odyssey application profile) from the event management team vFairs, which will prompt you to create a password to access the Pan-Canadian Online Training Session by clicking on the “Enter” button. You will not have access to the learning platform until one week before the start of the event.


One week before the start of the event, you will receive an email indicating that you can now log in to access the learning platform. Log in by clicking on “Enter,” using the email address that you use to access your Odyssey application profile and your newly created password.

No. You do not need to download or install any software to participate. You only need to have access to the internet. The browsers that work best for this event are Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.


Mobile users can also access the event via the vFairs mobile application, available both on Android and iOS devices.

Make sure you are registered, so you can view content during the live event and access all content and recordings for up to one year after the event is over. Sessions will not be enabled for downloading or offline viewing.


While it is best to attend the live sessions to have the opportunity to interact with the workshop leaders and connect with your fellow language assistants, the recordings will also be made available on the learning platform approximately 72 hours after the live session, to be viewed at your convenience.


Please note that some content, such as the sessions on mental health, as well as the one on diversity and inclusion, may not be available for a whole year after the event, depending on license use agreements.

We recommend that you read the Odyssey administrative and financial guide (click on the link above the search bar), as well as any other documentation your coordinator might have shared with you, and come prepared with your questions.


Add the dates and times of the 10 sessions you will be attending from September 7 to 12 to your personal calendar, in order to help plan and manage your time. Please note that the times listed on this platform are in Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).

  • If you live in the PDT or YST zone, subtract 3 hours.
  • If you live in the MDT or CST zone, subtract 2 hours.
  • If you live in the CDT zone, subtract 1 hour.
  • If you live in the ADT zone, add 1 hour.
  • If you live in the NDT zone, add 1.5 hours.

Make sure that you have a device with access to the internet, a quiet space, a comfortable seat, and plenty of snacks and water!
